Welcome!
My name is Melanie Florkowski and I am a Ph.D. candidate in Texas A&M's Ecology and Evolutionary Biology program. I am advised by Dr. Jessica Yorzinski and am interested in how commensal microorganisms influence the ecology and behavior of their host organisms. My dissertation research focuses on the gut and feather microbiomes of sparrows and peafowl.
Before starting my Ph.D, I grew up in southeast Michigan and received my bachelors degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2018 from the University of Michigan. In my free time I enjoy birding, rock climbing, and playing with my cat Spock. |
